Chapter 31 Mentor Perot's Surprise
Chapter 31 Mentor Perot's Surprise
"You are Perón."
Instructor Perot's gaze fell on the disheveled and listless Level 3 apprentice before him, and his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
Upon hearing Professor Perrault's question, Perrault's heart nearly leaped out of his chest.
But driven by a strong will to survive, he forced himself to calm down, his voice trembling noticeably:
"Yes...yes, respected Professor Pero, your student...your student is Belon."
"I already know about the feud between you and Hick."
Professor Pelosi's voice was calm and soothing, like a kind elder chatting casually.
"Now, I think you should have something to tell me...? For example, about that apprentice named Clara..."
These seemingly ordinary words struck Belon like a thunderclap!
His worldview was instantly and devastatingly shaken!
……
Peron's mind was in complete chaos.
He was brought here thinking that he was only to cooperate with Hick in saying some things that were detrimental to Krall, so that his mentor would support Hick in continuing to suppress the other party, so that Hick would have the opportunity to keep the secret for himself...
You can listen to what your mentor says...
Hick actually confessed everything?!
What is he after?!
Hick's previous decision to spread the news about Klar throughout the Wizard Tower had already left Belon bewildered by Hick's actions, and now it had completely overturned his understanding!
Shouldn't we try every means to possess good things?
Why tell your advisor?
What good would this do for Hick?
This—it goes against the wizard's instincts!
However, Veron no longer had time to delve into Hick's motives.
The instinct for survival overwhelmed everything. He forced himself to calm down, trying hard to recall every detail of his contact with Clara:
"Respected Instructor Pero, my knowledge of Klar is indeed limited... but one thing is certain: he definitely possesses another quasi-magical artifact!"
"Oh?"
Professor Perot's voice held a hint of amusement, and he gestured for Perot to continue.
"After offering that quasi-magical artifact called the Curse of Frost to Instructor Kaelon, he took out another one... another one..."
Peron spoke urgently, trying to demonstrate his value with the information he knew in order to save his life.
However, just as Perón was revealing the information he knew...
A sudden change has occurred!
Without warning, thick, dark red blood gushed from Belon's eyes, nostrils, ears, and mouth!
Even more bizarrely, he seemed completely unaware of what was happening and was still trying to say what he was going to say next!
"Ugh...uh..."
Only when he could only manage broken sobs from his throat did Peron suddenly realize the drastic changes in his body and the pain of being unable to speak!
An indescribable, terrifying power seemed to erupt from the deepest part of his body, instantly seizing his soul!
"Ugh—!"
He let out a horrific scream, his body convulsing and twisting violently, like a rag doll being kneaded by an invisible giant hand!
His knees buckled, and he collapsed to the ground, one hand gripping his throat as if held by an invisible force, while the other hand desperately reached out to his mentor, Perot, his eyes filled with extreme pain and pleading.
"Ugh...uh..."
He struggled in vain, his life force burning away as quickly as a piece of paper being set ablaze.
Witnessing this sudden and bizarre scene, even though Hick already knew that Belon seemed to be controlled by Klar, he felt a chill run from the soles of his feet to the top of his head, and his scalp tingled!
He knew that Klar might have a backup plan to control Belon, but he never expected that the method would be so domineering and ruthless!
That's practically an instant annihilation!
"curse?"
Instead of fear, Professor Perot's voice was filled with excitement and fervor, as if he had discovered a new continent.
"Fun! Very fun!"
He ignored the drastic change in Hick's expression beside him and simply raised his hand gracefully.
An invisible force instantly enveloped the dying Belon, suspending him like a specimen in front of Instructor Pero.
Mentor Perot stood up, his gaze like the most precise probe, carefully scanning Belon's agonizingly contorted body and his gradually dissipating soul, and uttered a heartfelt exclamation:
"Ingenious! A dual curse that affects both the physical body and the spirit simultaneously! Perfectly structured, with a hidden yet deadly trigger mechanism! This is no ordinary method!"
He turned to look at Hick, whose face had turned pale, his tone tinged with surprise:
"This level of curse power would be so potent that even a level one wizard would find it extremely difficult to escape unscathed, and would likely... certainly die! This is absolutely not the kind of power a quasi-wielding artifact could withstand; it's at the very least... a true artifact!"
"Can even a first-level wizard be killed instantly? Then, mentor, what about us...?"
Hick gasped, his back instantly soaked with cold sweat, and lingering fear overwhelmed him like a tidal wave.
Thank goodness! I'm so incredibly grateful!
If I hadn't been more cautious back then, and had acted rashly, I would probably be lying here right now, being used as a research specimen! And I would definitely be dead!
Professor Perot glanced at Hick's still-shaken expression, his eyes looking at him as if he were asking a foolish question:
"Do you think a normal level one wizard would be so easily cursed by a magical artifact without any defense? Stupid question."
Hick awkwardly twitched the corners of his mouth, speechless.
Professor Perot's gaze refocused on Peron, his eyes filled with a pure thirst for exploration and fervor, as if he were admiring a rare treasure.
"Heh heh, it seems that little apprentice named Clara... really has a knack for it! Hick, you've really given me a... huge surprise this time!"
His tone was filled with barely suppressed excitement, clearly indicating that he regarded Klar as a treasure trove containing astonishing secrets!
"I only sensed something was off about this guy named Klar by chance, but I really... never expected him to be so well hidden, and his methods to be so... appalling."
Hick bowed deeply in response, his tone filled with lingering fear and awe.
However, beneath his lowered eyelids, a cold and resolute glint flashed:
Clara, oh Clara, your methods are indeed unpredictable and impossible to guard against...
Unfortunately, you ultimately miscalculated one step—
You'd never guess that I'd expose your secret to a real second-level wizard!
Faced with such absolute power and status, what about your trump cards...?
Is it still useful?
"Take him away. Although the curse hasn't been broken, isolating it shouldn't be a problem."
Just as Hick was still thinking about something, his mentor's words brought him back to his senses.
Belon, who was already on the verge of death, seemed to be forcibly locked in by a force, and his life force stopped fading away.
"Also, take that Klar to the top floor. He's been acting as the tower master for a long time, and now it's time for me to go and see where I belong."
"Understood, mentor. I'll go and call Krall to the top floor right away."
After saying this, Hick bowed and then used magic to levitate Belon, taking him away.
