Chapter 80 The Hive Monster
Chapter 80 The Hive Monster
He sat under a boulder, closed his eyes, and rested for a short while.
Without any survival tools or food, he would have to hunt and fetch water to keep his physical condition at its best.
Simon looked up at the sky, or rather, the "dome" formed by the rock walls. On this second level, he couldn't see the real sky at all, and could only vaguely feel the faint light emanating from the large void. But he subconsciously felt that the sky was right above him.
Because of the effect of certain blue spores, some spores emit light for a long time, mimicking the light and darkness of day and night, deceiving his senses and making him mistake it for the sky.
The current situation is undoubtedly disheartening. He has lost the flesh that is evidence of the Hungry Angel's sins, lost his ticket to the outside world, and has been dragged into the game by a madman.
All he can do now is survive this brutal game of killing, and then consider what to do next.
Simon looked at his glass jar, which contained six scorpion bees. He observed them closely with his excellent eyesight and noticed that all six scorpion bees had red eyes.
Under his gaze, a bloody conflict suddenly erupted inside the glass jar! A scorpion wasp flapped its wings and flew in, suddenly opening its mandibles and biting the abdomen of another scorpion wasp, then extending its long, thin stinger from its tail and piercing the body of its kin.
With one less, he still has five Killer Bees.
Can such a creature, which seems to be born with supermale syndrome and bipolar disorder, really reproduce normally?
Just as Simon was hesitating whether to kill the wicked killer bee, he heard the sound of footsteps crunching through the weeds. Someone was nearby!
Simon picked up the harpoon, but since he didn't know the enemy's identity, he switched to an explosive crossbow bolt first.
A tall figure slowly emerged from behind the boulder; the newcomer was Elder Chalasu, a man of imposing stature.
He carried the glass jar, completely ignoring Simon in front of him, and sat down to rest in front of the boulder as if nothing had happened.
"What color are the compound eyes of the scorpion bee you have?" he asked in a deep voice.
Simon didn't put down the harpoon in his hand: "Before asking others, you should first tell them what color your own scorpion-killing bee's compound eyes are."
The old man glanced casually into the glass jar: "Four, all red."
Simon put down his harpoon. The compound eyes of their scorpion bees were all red. Since the old man in front of him had no intention of fighting him, then fighting would be an extremely foolish act. He had to avoid unnecessary battles now, lest he exhaust all his strength on the first day.
"Mine too," Simon replied, without giving a specific number.
"There's no need for us to fight," the old man replied, even closing his eyes contentedly. "We can fight after you find the White-Eyed Slaughter Bee."
It seems that the old man in front of them is no ordinary person. Like Professor Loris, he knows that he should first find the White-Eyed Demon Killer Bee.
Since that's the case, Simon humbly asked for advice:
"Where can I find white killer bees?"
One dared to ask, and the other dared to answer...
"The White Killer Bees are the weakest members of the species. This species kills each other, and the weak are devoured alive by the bloodthirsty strong members. Therefore, finding White Killer Bees is all about luck. Do you have the Flesh of Evidence of Sin? You can use the Flesh of Evidence of Sin to attract the Killer Bees."
"I see, thank you." Simon turned to leave.
"Wait a minute! I have something important to ask you."
Just as Simon was about to leave, Elder Chalasu suddenly called him back.
"Is there anything else?" Simon silently gripped the harpoon tighter.
The elder slowly opened his eyes and asked solemnly:
"What do you see that you can eat?"
……
The light from the spores in the second layer gradually dimmed, and nighttime began.
Elder Chalasu swung his gray-white fist, which looked as if it were covered with a layer of rock, and smashed the nearest stone. He took out a few branches and leaves from the stone, arranged them neatly, and without a flint, rubbed two fingers together to create fire and ignite the branches.
Simon picked up some mushrooms growing under the rocks nearby. They were all different colors, including brown mushrooms that looked edible and bright pink mushrooms.
He placed all the mushrooms in front of Elder Chalasu for him to choose from, since he had the blessing of immunity to poison and could eat any kind of mushroom.
Elder Chalasou looked troubled as he made his selections, finally choosing the brown mushroom and giving the rest to Simon.
The two skewered the mushrooms and grilled them over a large fire. Simon put the grilled mushrooms into his mouth and found them terribly unpalatable.
Without washing it with water, the dirt was simply rubbed off by hand. The taste was terrible, like swallowing a water-soaked sponge. There was no salt for seasoning either. After a simple chew, all that could be felt was a strong earthy taste spreading in the mouth, and one could only barely swallow it.
However, thinking that he might not even be able to eat this stuff again in the future, Simon could only force himself to swallow the mushroom in his mouth and use food to restore his strength.
"Are you crazy? You'll eat any kind of mushroom." Elder Chalasu couldn't help but remind him as he watched him devour the food, "Most of them are poisonous."
Simon didn't answer, and quickly ate the last mushroom.
The simple collaboration brought the two closer, and after they finished eating, they started chatting.
"This floor is called the Beast Hunting Garden? Why is it called that?"
"Because this place is full of wild animals, as many as rats, and all sorts of strange flowers... Don't eat these flowers, they can really kill you."
Simon nodded, accepting Elder Chalasu's kindness.
He knew in his heart that this warm coexistence was only temporary. They didn't want to have a conflict on the first day and waste their energy, nor did they want to let one of them leave lest they suspect the other of plotting something in the dark. So they were able to cooperate temporarily to solve the problems of campfire and food.
As night approached, spores began to drift from the flowerbeds, emitting a faint, pale green glow.
A gentle breeze carried a sweet scent, and the quiet night was punctuated by soft rustling sounds. However, a sudden scream abruptly shattered the tranquil atmosphere!
The hoarse, piercing scream instantly alerted Simon. He crouched down, raised his horse-drawn rifle, and aimed it at the source of the scream.
There was a humanoid creature there, swaying gently in the breeze.
It appeared to be a woman; her face was withered, and her head drooped limply, swaying along with her body.
Looking down, even Simon couldn't help but show a look of horror.
A strange gray-black organ, shaped like a honeycomb, grew out of her abdomen.
Countless tiny sounds filled the air, and the woman let out another miserable howl. Immediately afterward, a black gust of wind shot out from the honeycomb in her abdomen.
The buzzing sound was deafening; the black wind was composed of countless densely packed swarms of murderous bees! They found their target and rushed towards Simon in unison!
Simon held his breath, aimed at the woman's head, and pulled the trigger.
